Online nursing programs are becoming more popular as colleges try to accommodate more people, & more people search for ways to further their education. With more people working their way through school it has become harder to fit classes into the work schedule. Not every job is willing to work around a class schedule either. That puts some in a hard spot of wanting to get classes, but needing to work. There really wasn’t an easy answer for this until the internet became a way of life for many. With the internet they are able to take classes & still work a full-time schedule if they want to.
There are still a couple of glitches with the online nursing programs. Having a high-speed connection is one of them. Many of the online classes will require that you have a certain operating system (some might only work with particular servers) & they might also require that you have certain programs like Adobe Flash. You could still run into problems if you have a dial-up connection even if you have everything else you need. Some features might not work at all if you have a slow connection & that can make it a little more difficult for you.
There is a limit to the online nursing programs as well. You will most likely not find a program for classes to start into nursing. These require so much for hands-on training that it would be impossible to do it with a web class. What you most likely see is programs & classes to further your education after you have become a registered nurse. The LPN classes & the RN classes require hands-on training to teach you certain skills you will need while working as a nurse. Because of this they will most likely not be found on the web. If you do find one, it will probably be a split class where you have your lectures on the computer but still have to go to the lab for so many hours as well.
It is much more likely that you will find some bachelor & associates degrees offered since these usually center on more of the science. You might also find some different online nursing programs designed for different nursing positions.
