Visual Learning Environments

Information & communications technology (ICT) is today taking precedence in the school environment. With such computer based learning becoming a top priority for school aged children, any method that can improve a pupil’s interactive web-based skills is important. The power of technology in the classroom cannot be denied. This is where visual learning comes in. This can be any kind of online forum or learning platform that both pupils & teachers can go to in order to read & upload scholarly information. This information can range from academic texts or exercises for reading & completion by pupils to essays or projects for marking by teachers.

Visual learning moves away from the standard linear representation of ideas through textbooks & essays. Ideas can be mapped out visually & it allows documents to be shown simply and be shared interactively. Such computerised learning platforms can create a visually rich, multi media environment. This modern way of sharing learning materials perhaps makes reading & learning less challenging and daunting for children. It makes written texts immediately accessible & it can be a more fun & interactive way to learn. Plus many young people are now so used to computers that using them for schoolwork may actually encourage renewed interest in their studies.Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/5918901
