Downside of Great Online Degree

A lot of people think that getting an online degree is extremely easy. It’s true that there are some things that are much more convenient with an online degree in attending physical classes. If you live a few hours away from a university an online degree may be the difference between going to school or not. Class schedules rarely work around your needs. If you have one class early in the morning & one late in the evening most of your day will be shot either waiting at school or driving back & forth. So while an online degree can help you manage your time better it isn’t necessarily any easier. There are a lot of benefits that occur only in the classroom. A good percentage of the learning process takes place interacting with other students, raising your hand in asking questions, & going up to talk the teacher after class. These type of things don’t happen nearly as much in an online setting. Many schools try to simulate the benefits of the classroom through online meetings, chat rooms, & online forums.

While these things are good they aren’t the same as sitting in a live classroom with your fellow students. It is easy to feel secluded & detached when your classroom experience involves simply sitting in front of a computer. If you’re working a full-time job in interacting with other people during the day this might not be as big of an issue. You still get the interaction with other people. However if you’re trying to go to school full-time online you may suffer from social isolation. For many people the benefits of scheduling far outweigh the downsides of a more difficult educational experience. Even if it is harder to learn online, the scheduling flexibility may easily give you 50% or even 100% more available time to dedicate to your studies simply because you don’t have to go somewhere else to attend class.Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6064688
