Why Does Great Jobs Searching Turn People Stupid?

Now, before I get misquoted all over the universe, let me clarify my meaning. My clients are many intelligent professionals. A good portion were pretty highly (or just highly) compensated, street-smart, & are also willing to ask for help-which says a lot about them as well. I respect & admire everyone I meet & work with. But there are some mindsets that give me pause. The one that pops to mind first is “Networking doesn’t work, I never get any leads.”And the conversation stops there.Could you ever say something like that to your boss? The “This isn’t working so I’m not going to do it. Period” approach?Uh..no…’cause he’d fire your a**!If you’re working on a project, & something isn’t working right-AND there’s evidence that other people HAVE been successful at it, what else would you do to try to get it to work for you?

Wouldn’t you break down what you’re actually doing-analyze it step-by-step? Do research, take a class, talk to other people, try doing something differently? Actually figure out what’s not working for you & fix it before you completely throw in the towel? Are you meeting the wrong types of people, are you not following up, are you not clearly articulating what you are looking for & how they can help?Other people are getting jobs this way-& they’re NOT smarter, more charming, or attractive than you. So it’s gotta be something that you can correct! And this doesn’t apply to just networking, that’s just the one that I hear people fussin’ about the most. It’s all areas. Job seekers get stuck, throw up their hands, & walk away-a tactic that NO ONE would do in an actual job, so why are they doing it outside of receiving a paycheck?Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/5141805
