Disney has another hit on their hands called the Art of Animation Resort! This time it is not an animated movie, but a new resort that is featuring artwork & large statues & icons from four memorable Disney features: Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King & The Little Mermaid. This 26th resort owned by Disney is called “The Art of Animation” and will be opening in phases in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Finding Nemo is the theme for phase one opening May, 31. The second phase is Cars, opening on June 18, & on August 10,the third animated theme to open will be based on the popular Lion King. The final phase for the resort with 2000 rooms will feature The Little Mermaid and opening date is September 15.
This will be the first Disney resort with the majority of rooms being affordable family suites. For $249.00, the suites sleep six, with two bathrooms, a kitchenette & three separate sleeping areas. A dining or work table is easily converted into a bed for innovative space design. Depending on the theme chosen, children will be surrounded with huge, colorful images of animations throughout. Outside and placed around the resort area will be huge colorful icons the children will enjoy, including a huge 35 foot statue of King Triton from Little Mermaid fame.There will also be four courtyards, one per each movie with coordinating theme, & three swimming pools. A video arcade, playgrounds and interactive water fun rounds out the activities to make kids dreams come true. The food court will sell grab & go meals.
