In fact, a few years ago, the main terminal building was nothing more than a shack next to the runway & surrounded by wasteland. As investment in the area has increased, so have the passenger numbers & a radical expansion is under way. KLM run a frequent service from this airport using their Fokker 50 propeller aircraft. A little known airlines known as VLM also fly from here. Both airlines run several flights every day which are especially popular with executives. The aeroplanes are so small, however, that the same standard applies & there are no separate economy & business classes.In the next few months, British Airways will also be flying from City to Schipol so hopefully this will put downward pressure on prices but only time will tell.One of the biggest problems with flying out of here has been the high prices. The landing fees are fairly high & this comes across in the taxes that you pay. This has never been a problem for the corporate accounts but it can hit the wallet hard if you travel for pleasure.
