San Martin Park is one of the most traditional rides in Mendoza city, with its thick vegetation & attractions, it’s a must-see for both locals & tourists. But the arena is home to all kinds of artistic & lyrical performances at different times of the year. At the tip of the hill, the Monument of the Country in the Army of the Andes stands. Its loftiness surprises: it is an impressive mass of 14 tons of bronze made by Uruguayan sculpturer Juan Manuel Ferrari. The rocks that make up the truncated tower, base of the monument, were brought from the town of Uspallata, key scenario of the San Martin epic. The bronze friezes surrounding the tower, as well as the key sculptural crown that re-plays pictures from the San Martin campaign pay tribute to the many men & women who made the freeing of a continent viable.
