Ellensburg- Washington is a city of 17000 located in the central part of the state. It is the seat of Kittitas County in a largely rural, agricultural area at the eastern edge of the Cascade Mountains. Ellensburg’s dry open terrain is a stark contract to the green, urban environment of the Seattle area, which is a less than two-hour drive. The city is also home to Central Washington University, which has an enrollment of about 8,000 students, nearly half of the city’s population. The hotels in Ellensburg are concentrated on Canyon Road near Interstate-90 with nightly rates typically ranging from about $60 to $130. Rates may be lower on weekdays & in the wintertime. During summer weekends, particularly during the Ellensburg Rodeo & the Jazz in the Valley music festival, visitors should book reservations well in advance.
