Irkutsk is a beautiful city. It is a historic Siberian city, packed full of wooden buildings & old Russian orthodox churches. But, if you do not find somewhere nice to stay while you’re in Irkutsk, your vacation is going to be less enjoyable that it would be otherwise. But do not worry – there are plenty of options open to you & plenty of places to stay when you’re in Irkutsk, & I’m going to use this article to give you a brief rundown of what is available. First, lets talk about hotels.
But, we are now 2 decades on from the fall of the Soviet Union. Russia – & it is hotels – has moved with the times. The concrete hotels are still there, but they have been completely refurbished over the last decade or so, leaving some pretty nice hotels behind. Good examples of this are the Angara & the Irkutsk Hotels , both concrete former Intourist hotels that are now rated three star. They’re owned by people who really know the hotel industry, and know that service really is everything – they know that if they do not impress you, then you won’t come back, & you won’t recommend them to your friends. In fact, all in all, the four star hotels in Irkutsk make a pretty good choice if you want to pay that little bit extra & be pampered while you’re on holiday.
